Geyser 1 have boosted their chances of making the Reserve Championship semifinals after ending Taupo Old Boys' winning streak.

Taupo Old Boys entered into round six of the Rotorua/Taupo senior reserve grade competition undefeated.

They faced off against a desperate Geyser 1 side who are in danger of missing out on the semifinals after a horror start to the competition.

Old Boys batted first and were bowled out for 154.

Geyser 1 bowlers Matt Collier and Matt Mitchell inflicted most of the damage on Saturday in Taupo, returning bowling figures of 4/40 and 3/26 respectively.

In reply, Geyser 1 chased down the modest score in 30 overs.

It was the second win of the competition for Geyser 1 but they will still need to win this Saturday, during the final round-robin match of the season, to guarantee a spot in the semifinals.

Only three clubs have won three games or more in this season's competition, including Old Boys, Eastern Pirates and the Bay of Plenty Indians.

In other games at the weekend, the Bay of Plenty Indians defeated Geyser Fossils, chasing down a good score of 213 runs.

Meanwhile, Central were unable to get their first win of the 2014 Reserve Championship, losing to Taupo Wanderers on Saturday.

Reserve Championship results Saturday, March 8:

Taupo Wanderers 181 (F Gous 4/16, D Stewart 4/34) defeated Central 167/7 (S Gordon 29); Taupo Old Boys 154 (S Ashford 25; M Collier 4/40, M Mitchell 3/26) lost to Geyser 1 157/7 (M Farnell 50, A Applegate 39; S Dudley 2/23, M Parker 2/29); Geyser Fossils 213/7 (D Cheater 64, A Dyball 33; N Kumar 3/38, G Billing 2/18) lost to BOP Indians 215/6 (L Gallan 80no, R Kumar 56; D Cheater 2/29, C Nairn 2/38).
