When the wet weather hit the district on Sunday, Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade were among the first to respond.
And they're still helping in their community, volunteering their time this weekend to help with the cleanup efforts for residents affected.
Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade Senior Station Officer Paul Osborne saideveryone in the brigade knew someone in the community affected, and the brigade wants to do what it can to assist.

He said over the weekend they will assist wherever they can, desilting or helping with the salvage work.
"We are seeing where we can get out and help however we can.
"It has been an emotional time for the brigade and the community and we are just here to help where we can."
Osborne said before the Western Rd breach the brigade had already responded to 20 calls, and were heavily involved with the rescue efforts on Sunday night.
They also pumped one million litres of water out of a Ngongotahā property on Monday afternoon.
Ngongotahā Fire Brigade Chief Fire Office Francis Boag said the brigade was key part of the community and is there to support the community wherever it can.
