There's going to be some funny business at the Blue Baths this weekend when its inaugural comedy club chuckles into action tomorrow.

Producer and comedian Sera Devcich has performed at the Blue Baths many times and believes Rotorua locals will support a comedy club.

"Rotorua people are always up for a laugh. They have a great sense of humour and as we have been organising it, locals have been really supportive," she said.

"The arts community in Rotorua has always given us such huge support and ticket sales have been going extremely well. I'm really excited," she said.

The comedy industry in general has also been supportive to hear that a new comedy club is establishing in Rotorua and Ms Devcich is already in the throes of booking comedians for the next event.

The inaugural night will be hosted by Billy T nominee Tarun Mohanbhai and feature a stellar line-up of New Zealand's top comedians.

Headlining is South African born Urzila Carlson who is as subtle as a charging rhino. Her charge 'em down and make them laugh till they can't stand up brand of humour has racked up an array of awards including, Best Female Comedian at the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 NZ Comedy Guild Awards and the coveted TV3 People's Choice Award at the 2013 and 2014 New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

She will be supported by Billy T winner Justine Smith who has razor sharp wit and biting commentary. Sera Devcich will also be "doing her best to give white girls the bad reputation they probably deserve".
