Signing off a tender for the last stage of Manawa (formerly City Focus) redevelopment and who will represent the Rotorua Lakes Council at an upcoming freshwater symposium are two of the items up for discussion at Rotorua Lakes Council's meeting tomorrow .

However three other items - including an increase in admission charges for Polynesian Spa, the appointment process for the Rotorua Economic Development Board and a membership update on Te Maru o Kaituna (Kaituna River Authority) - will be discussed behind closed doors.

The full council meeting will be held tomorrow from 9.30am in the Rotorua Lakes Council chamber.

See tomorrow's council agenda here.

Recommendations from other council committees to be signed off by full council include signing off the contract with Fletcher Construction for the final stage of the City Focus with $1,135,000 approved.

The council is also expected to adopt the recommendation of the strategy, policy and finance committee that the review of the Rotorua Lakes Council Class IV Gambling and Board Venue Policy be approved for special consultation.

The recommendation is to replace the current cap of 380 machines with a sinking lid approach and no relocation of machines allowed.

The preferred option follows the preferences shown in a community survey to reduce the overall number of machines.

The committee recommended to council it approved the proposed new policy to go out for public consultation with submissions opening this Friday, April 28, until May 29, followed by hearings before deliberations and decisions.

The council will be asked to review and approve comments on the draft statements of intent from council-controlled organisations as well as approving for public release the Rotorua Lakes Council Local Governance Statement 2016-2019, as required by legislation within six months of a triennial election.
