Last year's can drive.

Last year's can drive.

Rotorua locals are again being encouraged to get their cans out for a good cause.

The Rotorua Daily Post and The Hits Food Drive for the Salvation Army will be held on Monday, December 8 from 6pm to 8pm.

Local people are urged to donate any non-perishable food they can spare for the Salvation Army foodbank this Christmas.

Along with a number of local businesses and organisations, volunteers will be hitting the streets in three Rotorua suburbs, Western Heights, Springfield and Ngongotaha.

People interested in volunteering to help out during the can drive can contact the Rotorua Daily Post or the The Hits radio station.

For those that can't make it but would like to contribute, you can leave food out for the collectors on your street or take your donation of goods into the Rotorua Daily Post office on Hinemoa St, or Smith City at Rotorua Central Mall.

People can donate money or non-perishable food.

Donations of food items can also be made at the Salvation Army's Community Ministries at Community House on Haupapa St.
