Karin Horen knows all about the importance of cancer rehab in helping you get back to family life after treatments.
After going through breast cancer twice, Ms Horen used stand-up paddling to help her recover the strength and energy she needed to look after their three young children while her
partner, Rotorua-born actor Manu Bennett, was away on overseas acting contracts.
"Manu introduced me to the sport and made it look so easy and fun I had to try it. I will forever be thankful. Stand-up paddling has changed my life and the life of other cancer sufferers.
"I love the way paddling makes me feel, and I want to share that with even more people - especially those who have been through challenges," she said.
This Sunday Ms Horen is teaming up with Te Ngae physiotherapist Mel Loveless to host a free have-a-go day at Tikitapu (Blue Lake).
