RELISH cafe co-owner Kryselle Swinton says the owners are trying to restore one-time favourite Relish to its former glory.

"We are hoping to get it back to where it was," she says.

I never went to Relish when it was in its so-called heyday, but I would say they have probably achieved their goal.

It is the place to go if you are after a more up-market style of dining than the quirky and colourful store Be Rude Not To, which Ms Swinton also co-owns with Phillip Swinton and Neil Anstice.

-The food

The menu covers all your expected brunch dishes like eggs benedict, mushroom on toast and muesli, which are nicely presented and are good-sized. They have a pizza oven and the pizza menu would cater for all tastes. The dinner menu does standard meals well and the soup looked tasty.

I had the eggs benedict, which was served with bacon, mushroom and avocado on a potato hashcake. It was delicious and flavoursome and of a generous size. My friend had the avocado smash, which looked delicious, served with poached eggs on sourdough.

-The drinks ... the coffee was great. The cafe also serves dinner so it has a wide range of juices and drinks available.

-The service ... was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive.

-The prices ... are reflective of the more upmarket setting but reasonable for the serving size. The eggs benedict with bacon was $18.50, and the avocado smash was $18.50.

-Overall ... this is a great place to be if you are after a more formal dining style; breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Open Monday to Sunday 7am to 3pm, dinner service from 5.30pm.
