Mr Namana expected between 300 and 400 people to watch.
"We just want to see the place packed," he said.
"The more people that come and take an interest the better."
Competitors will be judged on their skills, technique and the originality of their routine, he said.
Mr Namana believed break dancing was a good hobby for young people.
"It keeps them busy and is a good way for them to make friends, it's good for health and fitness too."
The competition will include a live graffiti art exhibition for spectators to enjoy, a barbecue and kids' activities.
"It'll be a free community, family event. Everyone's welcome. We just want to see people have a good time and check out the talent New Zealand's breakdancers have to offer."
