Some of New Zealand's best breakdancers will strut their stuff at this weekend's national competition.

Risky Business Volume 2 will be held at the Rotorua Community Youth Centre tomorrow and will showcase the talents of 34 dancers from around the country.

Event organiser Jerome Namana said this year was the first time the competition had included dancers from out of town.

"This year the event's much bigger, we've expanded it to make it a national competition and the amount of interest in it so far has been huge," he said.

Competitors had travelled from Tauranga, Hamilton, Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington for the event, he said. A group of dancers were also expected to travel from Christchurch.

Mr Namana expected between 300 and 400 people to watch.

"We just want to see the place packed," he said.

"The more people that come and take an interest the better."

Competitors will be judged on their skills, technique and the originality of their routine, he said.

Mr Namana believed break dancing was a good hobby for young people.

"It keeps them busy and is a good way for them to make friends, it's good for health and fitness too."

The competition will include a live graffiti art exhibition for spectators to enjoy, a barbecue and kids' activities.
