A worker at Bottle O Fairy Springs has suffered moderate injuries after being attacked with a hammer during an aggravated robbery.

Police were notified around 5.45pm of reports a man had been assaulted at the Bottle O store on Fairy Springs Rd.

In a written statement, a police spokeswoman said it was understood two offenders wearing balaclavas went into the store and a staff member was assaulted with a hammer.

Police quickly responded and arrested the two people nearby. They are both speaking with police.

The staff member suffered moderate injuries and was taken to hospital.
