The 23rd Rotorua Child Cancer Charity Breakfast and Art Auction will feature the biggest auction item the annual event has ever had.

Mazda New Zealand and Autohaus Rotorua Mazda are putting up for auction a Mazda 2GSX with all profits of the auction going towards the Child Cancer Foundation.

Autohaus Rotorua Mazda dealer principal Michael Meyer said, in its class, the Mazda 2 had among the best safety features including blind spot monitors, reverse camera, parking sensors, GPS and Bluetooth.

He said it also included three years' scheduled services up to 100,000km and a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

The winning bidder would also be able to choose their colour and transmission.

Mr Meyer said Autohaus Rotorua Mazda had been involved with the event for many years as a guest and donated items such as rugby balls signed by the All Blacks and car valet vouchers.

However this year they thought they would try to do something different in conjunction with the Professionals Rotorua to put up a fantastic item for auction.

"To me it's really why wouldn't you support it?

"It always makes you appreciate what you have but at the same time see how strong those kids that have undergone hundreds of treatments really are. We feel that their bravery deserves all the support we can give them."

Professionals McDowell Real Estate accounts administrator Aisha Okeremi said Rotorua had raised about $620,000 through this breakfast event over 23 years.

She said the Child Cancer Foundation supported more than 1000 families at any one time, but a lot of the money raised stayed in Rotorua.

"The car is the biggest item we've ever had for one of these."

The event's tickets include breakfast and a seat, with raffle tickets sold on the day.
