Bay of Plenty firefighters attended several fires overnight, including a well-engulfed car fire in Tauranga this morning.

A Fire and Emergency spokesman said the Greerton brigade responded to a well-engulfed four-by-four vehicle which was burning on the side of the road in 18th Ave in Tauranga at 5.32am.

No further information about this incident is available at this time, including the potential cause of the fire, the fire communications spokesman said.

The Rotorua brigade was called to a small rubbish fire in Turner Dr, Western Heights at 3.35am today.

Last night at 7.40pm, Pāpāmoa firefighters put out a small fire which someone had lit on the beach near the Pāpāmoa Beach Surf Club.
