Firefighters in Tokoroa want a block of flats demolished after the latest suspicious fire.
Tokoroa fire chief Dave Morris said there had been numerous fires at the Kupe Pl flats in the past year and two of the flats were now destroyed after separate fires. The latest fire was on Monday and is being treated as suspicious by Tokoroa police and fire investigators.
"They've been happening for some time," Mr Morris said.
"Last week someone set a small fire inside one of the flats but it was out when the guys got there," Mr Morris said. "Monday's fire the guys could see it from town before they got the call.
"These flats have been trashed. There are four flats, one was fully destroyed by fire four years ago and they've been empty for some time. They're dangerous."
