It could soon cost more to register your dog, get building consents and register food premises but the good news is it's only likely to be a matter of a few dollars for most.
The Rotorua District Council has reviewed its statutory fees and charges for the 2014/15 year with a direction to increase fees and charges where it can by 3 per cent, or in line with the adoption of a 3 per cent rate increase as stated in the sustainable financial strategy.
Yesterday the council's safety, policy and finance committee agreed to include the proposed schedule of fees in the draft annual plan, which will go out for public consultation later this month.
Each year the council reviews its fees and charges and they must be publicly notified.
The council's corporate and customer services manager, Jean-Paul Gaston, said increasing the fees reflected the balance between services being funded through rates and a user pays model.
