Police have caught a man alleged to have robbed a Rotorua bank today.

A police spokeswoman said the robbery, between Fenton and Tutanekai Sts, was reported about 9.55am.

Police have apprehended the man they believe to be responsible, she said.

There was cash stolen from the bank, most of which was recovered.

No weapon was used in the robbery and nobody was injured.

"At this early stage, police are still working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident," the spokeswoman said.
