Bay of Plenty will play Otago for the Plate at 6.25pm. It was a fiercely contested match with the lead swapping sides throughout. A solo effort through the posts from Filipo Nakosi saved the day for the Bay with a try in the dying seconds to level. The successful conversion meant the Bay avoided extra time and the dreaded golden point.

Bay of Plenty were out classed on the field but Te Aihe Toma showed his skill with two wide tries with one in the dying seconds. Taranaki were too strong in their defensive play to let the Bay get too much of a showing.

The Bay of Plenty team were thwarted in their effort to go for the cup by a too strong Waikato. The Waikato team ran rings around them, with set moves working in their favour. One try from Ariana Mark-Solomon got some points on the board for the Bay.

Counties Manukau showed their class beating Bay of Plenty to take second spot in the women's Pool A behind Manawatu. The home side failed to shut down playmaker Cynthia Taala, who scored twice in the first half and set up a number of her side's second half tries to take the win.

A stunning try from Akira Mako with no time left on the clock sealed the win for the Bay. Northland opened the scoring but the Bay fought back with a try from Te Aihe Toma. Half time it was 5-all and Northland were first to score again in the second half but Elliot Hagen fought back almost instantly. It was Mako who stole the show though. The Bay almost guaranteed a place in the knock-out stages.
