Ad manager wins prestigious award

The Rotorua Daily Post advertising manager Janine Davy has scooped a prestigious international award.

At the PANPA Ad Awards in Sydney on Wednesday night Mrs Davy was announced the supreme winner of the Ad Manager/Director of the Year.

The awards were open to newspapers from across Australia and New Zealand, as well as English-language papers from Southeast Asia and the South Pacific.

Rotorua Daily Post general manager Matthew Sherry was delighted with Mrs Davy's win, which he described as a "significant achievement".

"She thoroughly deserves this accolade as she is tireless in her dedication to the Rotorua Daily Post, her staff and the many clients she works with.

"Janine is a dedicated and passionate person and that comes through clearly in her day-to-day work. She has certainly made a mark in Rotorua after only one year in the advertising manager's role."

He said Mrs Davy had had a stellar career in advertising, in both newspapers and magazines. "Janine extols the power of press on a daily basis and has welcomed back many clients who are once again reinvigorated by the power of newspaper advertising."

Mr Sherry said it was fantastic Mrs Davy was able to travel to Sydney to receive her award in person. More PANPA awards were to be announced overnight, with the Rotorua Daily Post up for Newspaper of the Year in its circulation category and Digital Destination of the year for its website. Its two photographers, Stephen Parker and Ben Fraser, were finalists in the photography categories.
