More than 2000 people affiliate with Te Arawa iwi Tapuika.
According to the latest Census figures, the iwi comprises 44 per cent men and 56 per cent women.
The figures are part of Statistics New Zealand's iwi profiles, which break down the number of members living throughout the country.

key facts of Tapuika include:
The median age was 22.2 years.
• 27.9 per cent identified Tapuika as their sole iwi affiliation, while 72.1 per cent were also affiliated with other iwi.
• 38.7 per cent could hold a conversation about everyday matters in te reo Maori.
For people aged 15 years and over affiliating with Tapuika and living in New Zealand on 5 March 2013:
• 42.6 per cent stated that they had never been a regular smoker.
• 69.2 per cent held a formal qualification.
• The median income was $19,800.
• 66.7 per cent living in main urban areas were in the labour force.
