As cold darkness envelops the winter evenings, the beckoning of a hot, steamy, geothermal spa is hard to resist ... especially as our city is an internationally acclaimed spa destination.
Destination Rotorua Marketing has been spreading the word about our spas over the past month, with some fantastic results innational media.
With headlines such as "Beauty Destination: Rotorua our own luxury spa heaven", "Rotorua acclaimed for its spas" and "Rotorua crowned top luxury spa destination", it's clear the message is being well received and spread with coverage in the Herald Viva magazine, www.thread.co.nz, Ms Helene and MSN. Also in the pipeline is a feature cover story with Indulge magazine.
Wai Ora Day Spa recently won three of four New Zealand categories of the World Luxury Spa Awards and Polynesian Spa celebrated its 40th birthday, while consistently being voted one of the world's top 10 spas by Conde Nast magazine. These accomplishments and the enticing promise to media of more spa developments to come from Treetops Lodge and Estate, Wai Ora Day Spa and also with Polynesian Spa having refurbished its Lake Spa Retreat, means we can continue to keep this momentum rolling and the message front of mind for New Zealanders.
Those already impressed with our day spas are also curious about experiencing the more adventurous natural spas, such as Manupirua Hot Springs, on Lake Rotoiti ,and Hot Water Beach, on Lake Tarawera, as well as Kerosene Creek which will be accessible on Te Ara Ahi, the New Zealand Cycle Trail - well worth a soak after a bit of biking.
After highlighting these to media, Destination Rotorua Marketing hosted ACP Magazines beauty director Trudi Brewer a fortnight ago and she experienced a Miri Miri massage and Alite Mud Facial at Wai Ora Day Spa, a Replenish Mud Wrap and Mud Mask at Polynesian Spa and cruised over to Manupirua Hot Springs on Pure Cruise's 53ft luxury catamaran.
Trudi said,"it was amazing from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The food, treatments and the service. We were so spoilt, I was blown away". She said she will be reviewing her treatments in the October issue of Next and posting all her reviews on NZBeautyReport.com She is also interested in reviewing Pure Cruise for a future issue of Next in the "Our favourite things to do in New Zealand" section and indicated she is keen on featuring our regional spa offerings in the summer issue of Fashion Quarterly.
Destination Rotorua has sent to beauty media some of the region's unique spa products and feedback suggests you may spot these products in months to come in magazines.
