Ian1969:
UFOs are easier to spot in remote areas due to lack of light pollution - skies over busy cities are flooded with light, UFOs can be missed. Also lots of sightings are from credible people such as pilots, air-traffic controllers, etc, who would know the difference between shooting stars etc. By saying something is a UFO, it is not necessarily saying it is alien, it is an Unidentified Flying Object.
No harm intended

The 21/12/2012 is not far away and this is a part of the Mayan Calendar, not the end of the World, just another part of adverse weather conditions, the world is having tornadoes, earthquakes, floods etc and UFOs are true. We are safe, because the UFO has been out there for thousands of years, and if they wanted to harm us they would have done it by now.

Not a very intelligent comment, Mr Hickey. If you're not calling Mr Jones a liar what is the "sound explanation" for his sighting? Just because you have never seen any unexplained sighting surely doesn't mean there has been none.
Entertaining observation

Isn't it funny how the pressures at this time of year make ppl see things, it made my monday reading this. :)
Lingering lights
Hi there, my neighbour has been talking about these lights for the last couple of months. He sees them regularly when the sky is clear, usually around 11 o'clock at night, and also around 6 in the morning when he gets up ... He saw some over Kamo way first, but mostly sees them towards Parikahi way (we live just before the Tikipunga hill).
He doesn't have email so he asked me to send this to you.
We've seen them, too
I have just read an article in the paper about sky lights leave mystery trail.
Funny I came across this as my partner and I saw a similar sighting in the sky on Saturday night around 9.20pm.
We were heading to a function south of Kawakawa. The night was almost dark and there were a couple of stars we could see, no other cars on the road, and as we were heading up Waiomio Hill my partner and I both saw a light that looked like it was falling, then all of a sudden it slowly started moving across the sky, then got faster and disappeared. We pulled over to see if we could see it again, knew it wasn't an aircraft or a shooting star as it was too close to us and there were no red or blue lights.
It was just a white bright light ... We put it down to a UFO (LOL)
We are both sane people too!
