Police have uncovered what appears to be a significant drug lab for manufacturing methamphetamine, or P, on Puketotara Rd, west of Kerikeri.
The bust came on Sunday morning when police raided the rural property, discovering chemicals and equipment in a shed and four vehicles.
Sergeant Phil Le Comte of Kerikeripolice said a Kerikeri man had been arrested and charged with possession of materials for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Police had spoken to a number of people at the address. More charges and arrests were likely, depending on the outcome of ESR tests on a large number of exhibits found at the property.
Liquids, powders, cash and digital scales were among the exhibits taken away for testing, Mr Le Comte said. The arrested man was due in the Kaikohe District Court yesterday. The raid was understood to be part of a wider drug operation around the Mid North.
