Police are asking for sightings of this vehicle around Whangarei on Tuesday. It is a 2010 white Mitsubishi Lancer, with distinctive black mag wheels.

A Northland man killed as a result of a gunshot has been named as Moses Noor Mahanga.

Police have released the name of the 25-year-old who was found dead in a vehicle in Otangarei on Tuesday.

Mr Mahanga was from Whangarei but was formerly of Waiomio, near Kawakawa.

Detective Inspector Kevin Burke said a post-mortem carried out yesterday had confirmed Mr Mahanga died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Today police continued to investigate and were back in Otangarei interviewing residents. They have made no arrest in the case.

Mr Burke asked members of the public for any sightings of the vehicle Mr Mahanga was using in the Whangarei area on Tuesday.

The vehicle is a 2010 white Mitsubishi Lancer, with distinctive black mag wheels.

"Police are also requesting that anybody who has not already been spoken to in the William Jones Drive and Taraire Crescent areas to contact them," he said.
