Some of the last vehicles to make it through floodwaters on State Highway 1 before the road was closed.

Heavy rain saturated Northland yesterday causing flooding, slips and trees to come down.

The weather caused some power outages and school closures.

Whakapara, north of Whangārei, was the worst hit with flooding closing State Highway 1.
