A General Lee car said to have starred in the cult TV show Dukes of Hazzard is up for sale on Trade Me.
Bo and Luke Duke used to slide across the bonnet of a 1969 orange Dodge Charger on their adventures evading the Hazzard County authorities.
And this one has attracted more than 6000 views since it went online last week.
Its Whangarei-based owners are reluctantly selling the car, with no reserve, and offers starting at $55,000. It comes with the personalised number plate GNRLEE.
The posting states: "Yes it is the General Lee. The beast has to go."
Owner Michelle Powell, 38, bought the car off Trade Me three years ago and has "slowly done it up."
She admitted having no paperwork to authenticate the claim her Charger was used on the Dukes of Hazzard show.
"I've never gone down that track. The importer did tell me it was off one of the programmes, but couldn't tell me which phase of the series it was in."
One poster, lotus007, questioned its heritage today, saying: "If the car was used for TV or films it would have the Warner Bros numbers under the hood and in the door shuts. If it was the car in the V8 mag then it was painted here after being brought over so is not original. If it was real it would be worth a LOT more money."
Ms Powell replied: "I am sure the new owner will look into this, yes I agree."
Ms Powell, whose nickname is 'Daisy', said: "I'm gutted to be parting with it. It's really been a part of the family.
"I loved the programme when I was younger. Every Friday night I'd sit there and watch it, watching the good old boys, Bo, Luke and Daisy Duke, and to own the General Lee has been incredibly fun.
"But it's got to go, and it will be a very sad day on Saturday when the auction closes."
She said she has been surprised by the interest in the auction but was confident of surpassing the $55,000 starting price. Several potential bidders had half-jokingly asked whether the doors were welded shut, or whether they would have to slide through its windows like the TV stars.
"There's a couple of really interested buyers, which are coming from afar to have a look at it. I'm assuming it will go for more than $55,000 - that's just a starting point," Ms Powell said.
"It will always keep it's value. It's over 40 years old, but it's very straight, and kept it as authentic and genuine as possible."
The online auction ends on January 21 at 9.30am.
