One of five people facing charges in relation to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab in Northland last month has elected trial by jury.
Kimberley Gibbons-Hurinui, 31, was granted bail when she appeared in the Whangarei District Court on Tuesday via audio visual link.
She pleaded not guilty to single charges of manufacturing meth, possession of meth for supply, possession of precursor equipment, and two charges of unlawfully possessing a pistol, and two of unlawfully carrying a firearm. Two charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm were withdrawn in court.
Gibbons-Hurinui, Julian Roberts, 43, Charla McIntyre, 18, Jeffery Hall, 33, and Tama Watene-Toi, 51, were arrested after emergency services discovered a meth lab in Dolphin Pl, on the Tutukaka Coast, on July 10. Suspicious behaviour at the holiday home led to the discovery.
Watene-Toi has entered not guilty pleas to charges of manufacturing meth, two of unlawful possession of a pistol, and four of unlawfully carrying a firearm. He has yet to enter a plea on the charge of possession of precursor equipment.
