There is going to be plenty of nonsense going on in Whangarei this next week as Whangarei Theatre Company puts on its latest play - an enthusiastic rendition of the off-Broadway hit Nunsense.
The play is set in a convent that has run into some complicated financial difficulties, and a small group of nuns decide to fundraise through an amateur concert at a school, by performing song and dance on stage. Nunsense was written by Dan Groggin and is said to have been the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history. The Whangarei Theatre Company performance was directed by Ringi Smith and produced by Tane Davis.
The cast is: Sister Mary Leo (Clair Montgomery) who dreams of being a ballerina-nun; Sister Robert Anne (Louisa Dearlove); Sister Mary Amnesia (Cassie Munson); Sister Mary Hubert (Deanne Heta) is the second-in-command; and Mother Superior (Natalie Card) is their leader. Nunsense runs from tonight until April 16. Bookings: www.whangareitheatrecompany.org.nz or at Whangarei Suit Hire.
