An attempt to push-start a car proved too successful when the car rocketed across a busy road and through a Kerikeri shop window.
The incident occurred about 7pm on Sunday when a motorist was unable to start his car after stalling in a carpark entrance in Kerikeri.
A passer-by kindly offered to push while the owner tried a running start, not only starting the engine but accelerating across the road, on to a footpath and through a plate-glass window at Apple Streetwear.
Temporary repairs were carried out to make the shop secure, leaving sales assistant A J Hodges to clean up on Monday morning, her first day back at work after a two-week break.
The only injury was to a dummy. The nameless mannequin bore the brunt of the impact and was thrown across the shop, breaking an arm in two places.
