Bryn Evans and Michael Johnson swap roles in two of three changes made to the Hawke's Bay Magpies rugby side for Sunday's match against Waikato at Napier's McLean Park.
Without wanting to give too much away, Kelt Capital Magpies coach Brendon Ratcliffe said the duo's swap is part of a different
plan the Magpies want to adopt in the week six Air New Zealand Cup encounter. Both Evans and Johnson got plenty of game time in their respective new roles of blindside flanker and lock during the Magpies pre-season programme.
The only change to the backline sees former New Zealand under-21 rep Dan Waenga replace Joe Wright at second five-eighth. Waenga has plenty of experience at first five-eighth and along with first five-eighth Aayden Clarke will provide plenty of attacking options for the hosts.
Changes to the subs bench see Karl Lowe replace Hika Elliot as the substitute hooker, David Briggs replace Arizona Taumalolo as the substitute prop, Tivaini Fomai replaces the versatile Lowe as the openside flanker cover, Anthony Bradshaw replaces Chad Shepherd as the substitute halfback and Matt Berquist returns from his shoulder injury to replace Waenga as the substitute inside back.
