Lindisfarne College
Cricket
Two and a half years of fundraising and generous help with time and resources from families and friends has paved the way for 17 year 11-13 Lindisfarne boys to experience a once-in-a-lifetime cricket dream.
In 2013 Lindisfarne College completed a successful inaugural cricket tour of Sri Lanka and this journey will be repeated during the next fortnight. The tour begins with two twenty20 matches in Singapore against Singapore Cricket Club and association teams on Friday. Following these matches the team will travel to Kandy, Galle and Colombo to play a variety of school and district XIs.
Whilst in Kandy the team will play the Kingswood College XI. This is the high school attended by Hawke's Bay and Central Districts representative Indika Searanthe. The highlights of the tour will be the matches played at the Galle International Stadium against St Aloysius College and the final match of the tour played against Carey College at the P. Sara International Stadium in Colombo.
Fourteen parents will accompany the touring party and will also enjoy attractions such as visits to an elephant orphanage, tea plantation, sacred temple and important historic sites. Games will all be streamed live on CricHQ and each boy will take his turn to write a daily blog which can be followed on Facebook.
The team is: Henry Bone, Hamish Boyes, Kyle Brittin, Tom Broad, Louis Clayton, George Cranswick, Oscar Crichton, Andrew Dickson, Tim Ferguson, Ben Frame, Robbie Freebairn, Will Holden, Matt Hilson, Jon Karlsson, Josh Reed, Tom Scott, Joe Ward.
