Sign Central's work can be seen in many places including the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter.

A company originally founded in 1931 by Gordon Spurdle, a brilliant signwriter, is still very much a going concern and has recently re-branded from Creative Sign Makers to Sign Central.

Sign Central, the new name, reflects the fact that this is a one stop shop where people can go for all their sign making needs from design and manufacture through to installation. Sign Central is based in Queen Street West where the studio and large premises, big enough for large vehicles to be worked on, are located.

Over the decades the business has progressed steadily from the art of signwriting to the business of creating a multitude of signs.

Everything was done by hand in 'the good old days' and the craft is still very much alive at Sign Central, however, adoption of cutting edge technology means that Brent, and Sam, the owners, along with a talented team, offer a huge range of products to decorate your truck, store, vehicle, aircraft, helicopter or office.

While there have been generational changes and massive changes in technology attention to detail is still very much part of the team's work ethic. With the benefit of cutting edge technology supported by design software and equipment such as latex printers, a CNC router and engraving machines they can undertake virtually any sign challenge.

Sign Central's work meets international standards at a very competitive price. Not all signs are made equal as demands of clients range from needing a sign, say to advertise a house sale in a short time frame to needing a sign that will last 10 years or more for the long established business.

Fleet signage is a speciality with quick turnaround times. Sign Central design and manufacture graphics for full size trucking fleets such as Emmerson transport. They also manufacture and apply graphics to many aircraft in Hawke's Bay including the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter of which they are a proud supporter.

Throughout the Bay there are examples of their wide ranging work such as vehicle wraps, beautiful Art Deco store fronts such as Alexanders in Heretaunga Street, many signs for real estate companies and also signage for the Lowe Corporation rescue helicopter.
