Napier City Council has started a second-time-around consultation on a local Easter Trading Policy it hopes will be in place well before the public holiday weekend next April.
A four-week consultation period opened yesterday, with public submissions closing on November 9.
The council's previous adoption of the policy was ruledout in a High Court Judicial Review, based on inadequacies in draft policy public consultation the first time around at the end of 2016.
Residents and organisations now have the chance to provide feedback on an updated draft, which provides a broader summary of key points for and against the policy.
Mayor Bill Dalton is urging the public to give feedback on the policy, particularly those most affected, but reiterates that if the policy is adopted, retailers and employees will still have choices about whether to trade.
The process asks if the policy is supported, and whether Easter Sunday trading should apply to the whole or part of the district.
