A bus was blown off the road by high winds near Dannevirke this morning.
The driver was the only person aboard when the bus was caught by a gust on State Highway 2, 6km south of Dannevirke.
GoBus commercial director Craig Worth said the bus was pushed off the road but not
blown over.
The driver was checked at a medical centre and was expected back at work this afternoon.
Mr Worth said the incident happened at a "notorious" spot for wind gusts. The Metservice had warned of severe gale winds with the potential to bring down trees and power lines, and make driving hazardous.
Winds were expected to ease in the Wairarapa by noon today and in Hawke's Bay this evening.
