"Think Graeme Burton is a bad ****, just wait until I get out," Earl Campbell yelled while leaving the High Court in Napier with a 10-year prison sentence.
In a colourful sentencing, reminiscent of an outburst-filled trial, Campbell, 25, criticised Justice Robert Dobson saying he was being too lengthy in his sentencing notes, loudly remarking, "he just goes on, and on, and on".
"I just want to get the hell out of here and go back to prison," yelled Campbell at Justice Dobson, as he was being sentenced for aggravated robbery, arson, theft and escaping custody yesterday.
"Just chuck the book at me, give me what you're going to give me, I don't want to hear this shit."
He was eventually removed from the court so sentencing could be completed.
Campbell appeared for sentence following the $156,000 aggravated robbery of two Armourguard security officers outside ANZ Bank on Karamu Rd, Hastings, on June 30 last year.
The officers were outside the ANZ Bank on the corner of Karamu and Heretaunga St East when they were confronted by a man wearing a balaclava and holding a pistol.
The offender took a suitcase full of cash and was picked up by an accomplice in a dark Subaru Legacy, which was later found ablaze.
Campbell's accomplice, Michael Garnham, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery and arson and was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison in January.
During a callover earlier this year, Campbell and his younger brother Vaughan got into a scuffle with court and prison security officers during which Campbell made an attempted escape.
Justice Dobson spoke of how the robbery was premeditated and had many aggravating factors including the violence towards security officers - one of whom has left Hawke's Bay as a result of the attack - the theft of an escape car, and the number of participants involved.
Campbell, who has 47 previous convictions, has served a sentence of imprisonment every year from 2002 to 2008.
He was sentenced to 9 years for the aggravated robbery, theft and arson, and a further six months for escaping custody.
