No major delays are expected at any of the 17 sites across Hawke's Bay highways where work is taking place - although caution is advised as several are single lane only.
There are four sites across SH5 where maintenance and road realignment projects are being carried out. The major work siteis about 3km north of Tarawera - the scene of recent slips and road closures. The realignment project involves what the New Zealand Transport Agency described as "difficult earthworks." Dump trucks will be operating between the project and a dump site located 2km further south. Delays were unlikely to be more than five minutes.
Minor projects are also being carried out just north of the Glengarry Rd, north of Mohaka Bridge, Te Haroto and between Te Pohue and Tarawera. Speed restrictions are in place and delays are up to five minutes.
There are eight work sites along SH2 - mainly maintenance, minor slip clearance, drainage and pavement testing. Other minor works are taking place on SH50A and SH38.
Closer to Napier, motorists are asked to be aware of footpath widening and the building of new kerbing on the Westshore Bridge. The bridge lanes have been temporarily narrowed and speed restrictions are in place.
