The forecast gale force winds on Saturday has forced a change of venue for the Relay for Life with the duration of the event also shortened.

Organisers say erecting tents and a stage were considered to be a health and safety risk, so these will not be put up and the event will be held at the Regional Sports Park instead of Clive.

The change of venue was to utilise the infrastructure such as seating already there.

The opening ceremony will be tomorrow at 11.30am, and the actual relay has been shortened and will run from midday until 10pm.
