Police investigating the slaying the murder of Manawatu farmer Scott Guy say anyone with information should not be afraid of coming forward.
Last night, a man, who claimed to be a friend of Mr Guy, told TV3`s Campbell Live show he was too scared to speak to police.
Police today urged the man to make contact with the investigation team, along with anyone else who may be able to help the inquiry.
``We are trying to identify the person who has taken Scott's life and has left a family devastated,'' said Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger.
Mr Guy, 31, was shot dead in the driveway of his Aorangi Rd, Feilding, home in the early hours of July 8 last year.
``People who have information that will help this investigation have nothing to fear -- we will treat any information with sensitivity and in confidence.
``The need to solve this crime and bring some relief to Scott's family should far outweigh any concerns about coming forward,'' she said.
Police did not know whether the man interviewed had any information that could help their investigation.
''(However) it does illustrate that there may still be people in the community who could be of assistance to the investigation.
``The smallest piece of information may be the key to solving this crime so our message is simple -- talk to us and let us gauge whether your information is useful.''
Police yesterday released images of graffiti painted on the Guys' home two years ago.
On the night of January 30, 2009 -- a home being built by Mr Guy and his wife Kylee was vandalised, with extensive damage estimated to be worth around $13,800.
Ms Guy last night joined police appeals for people with information about obscenities painted on her home to come forward. The phrase ``Fuken Bitch Slappr'' was painted in large letters on an outside wall of the house and another phrase on a different wall which has been kept secret by police.
Police said the phrase that had been blocked out was not a name but police could not reveal more because of the investigation.
``Kylee begs anyone who has any thoughts or seen anyone acting strange around the time to please come forward,'' said Chanelle Bullock, speaking yesterday on her sister's behalf.
``She is wanting that one person to come forward with anything that will help solve the horrible way in which she has lost her best friend and husband Scotty.
``Kylee is hoping with the photos being published it will get people thinking and talking. As a family we are praying that the media spotlight on this will give some insight on who did this and why.''
Police said anyone with information about the death of Mr Guy could speak directly to a member of the investigation team by calling 0800 808585.
Otherwise information could be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
Public say information in Guy case will be confidential
