The Unison team at work - now the benefits are to be paid out in the Hawke's Bay Power Consumers Trust annual dividend.

The Hawke’s Bay Power Consumers Trust has begun its process of paying consumers an annual Unison Networks Ltd dividend, this year set at $270.

The dividend was announced at the trust’s annual meeting in July, increasing by $10 from the 2024 payment, and coming from a $17.8 million dividend payment from Unison Networks Ltd.

All consumers connected to Unison Networks in Hawke’s Bay at September 30 are eligible to receive the payment, and must ensure they are registered at the online portal hbpct.co.nz by November 18.

Trust chair Kirsten Westwood said those who need to register are those who haven’t previously registered, or those who are registered but whose details have changed in the last 12 months.

All consumers are urged to log-on to ensure details are up to date, and those who are registered will receive the payments direct to accounts from November 25.

Unison Networks is wholly owned by the trust, which was established in 1993 and holds shares on behalf of the public, from the days of the power boards which disappeared in restructuring of the electricity supply sector.

Communities had options, some in other areas having the dividend returned by way of discounts on power bills.
