Physiotherapy services will be back at the Napier Health Centre from the start of next month after the Hawke's Bay District Health Board (HBDHB) chose to form a partnership with Plus Rehab.
Plus Rehab, which has clinics in Napier, Hastings and Waipukurau, has signed up for the next three years and will move into the Wellesley Road site on December 4.
HBDHB chief executive Chris Clarke said Napier people once again had access to a wide range of physiotherapy services from the Napier Health Centre and services for hospital outpatients would remain free.
The service temporarily relocated to Hastings in July this year due to staff shortages.
Plus Rehab's Napier principals Steven Bates and Tony Snell said the clinic has had a high profile in the community, first as The Napier Physiotherapy Centre and more recently Plus Rehab Napier.
"It is an exciting concept to be able to provide a service in partnership with the Hawke's Bay DHB," Mr Snell said.
"The move from our current premises in Craven Terrace will provide the opportunity for Plus Rehab to expand all operation and services and ensure the people of Napier have access to an even wider range of physiotherapy services." HBDHB chairman Kevin Atkinson was thrilled.
"This is great news for Napier people. Plus Rehab will continue to provide all the services previously available at the Napier Health Centre and their private practice," Mr Atkinson said.
