Extra tickets for the Phil Collins Mission Concert sold out within an hour today, promoters say.
Garry Craft of Australian promoters Sport and Entertainment Ltd (SEL) said he was "absolutely thrilled" that the tickets sold out so quickly for February's concert.
"The response has been overwhelming, whilst Phil was oneof our one time bucket list acts, we always wanted to steal him away from Auckland-which we successfully did and everyone has gone crazy over it. It's just terrific."
Craft said tickets were available to purchase through The Mission Estate Winery and Ticketek, but both venues sold out within an hour.
"We always give an allocation to Ticketek because some people don't have credit cards or they want to go to the box office to get them.
Normally we don't do a second on sale with the Mission, but Phil Collins asked for it to be structured that way, so a small allocation went on sale today, which sold out pretty much in five minutes."
Craft said the tickets were be able to sell incredibly fast due to the new structure of online websites and their ability to process payments quickly.
"It's crazy these days because the systems are getting so much better with processing payments and tickets and banking systems, so everything is able to be processed incredibly quickly.
It's by far the fastest sell-out we've had in the Mission Concert history."
The concert can seat up to 25,000 people and rumours are still circulating that there could be potential for a second concert, however Craft said the chances of that were "very slim."
"But if you asked me the likelihood of Phil Collins coming to the Mission 12 months ago, I would have said that chance would also be very slim. We got him that's great. But I feel like a chance of a second concert is unlikely at this point."
Due to the huge attendance Craft said they were still looking for bus drivers to transport fans to and from the grounds.
"Nimons buses are recruiting for drivers at the moment, so any help there would be great," Craft said.
