Ten new jobs come with digitally ordered gourmet burgers launched this week at Hastings McDonald's.
The burger chain is trialling Create Your Taste burgers, which come with table service, in Australia and New Zealand at selected stores.
Using digital kiosks, customers can build their own burgers, choosing from 31 ingredients.Food is delivered to the table.
McDonald's Hastings owners Marcus and Lynette Pohio, who also own and operate McDonald's restaurants in Havelock North and Taradale, have invested more than $160,000 in the Hastings restaurant to deliver the new dining experience.
Five new staff have been hired at the Hastings store for the innovation and another five will be hired shortly, taking the staff total to 100.
"You can build whatever you want in the kiosk - there are a whole lot of new ingredients," Mr Pohio said. "They go make the food and bring it out to you.
He said the burgers "stack-up" against any other gourmet burgers on the market "and we can't wait to hear what our customers think".
The base cost of burgers starts from $10.90 but the final cost depends on chosen ingredients.
