Motorists can expect slight travel delays across all the main highways throughout the region as repair and maintenance programmes are carried out.
On State Highway 2 north of Napier crews are carrying out surface repairs at sites between Waikare and Wairoa with the New Zealand Transport Agency advising impacts on travel times of up to five minutes as speed restrictions and stop-go signalling is in place.
Similar restrictions have also been set between Putorino and Tutira while drainage maintenance work is carried out.
Drainage maintenance is also under way on SH38 around Frasertown where delays can also be expected.
On SH5 between Napier and Taupo surface water blasting is being carried out with speed restrictions in place, while culvert extension work is in progress in the Eskdale area.
While delays were described by an NZTA spokesman as "negligible" motorists using SH50 are asked to drive with caution as road marking work is being carried out at sites between Hastings and Takapau.
Along the Kereru Rd stretch of SH50 surface reconstruction crews are on site and stop-go signalling along with temporary speed restrictions are in place.
Similar restrictions remain in place at two of the major works on the region's highways — the Pakowhai and Links Rd roundabout site on the Napier Expressway and the Tuki Tuki Bridge at Waipukurau on SH2 where repairs are being carried out.
