LAWRENCE GULLERY A motorcyclist died in a collision with a utility vehicle in Havelock North on Saturday afternoon. Hastings police said Andrew Scott-Kerr, 47, of Hastings, was killed about 1pm on Napier Road. Mr Scott-Kerr's pillion passenger, a woman, received minor injuries. The driver of the utility vehicle was not hurt. Policewere today still investigating the cause of the accident. A member of the Hawke's Bay Classic Club, Roger Gray, said he was saddened by the news. "I don't know all of the details but I had heard a chap had died," he said. "A lot of couples ride motorbikes now for recreation. Their partners are also riding or are passengers on the back of their bikes." Mt Gray, a motorbike collector and sales manager at Hastings Honda, said he had known many involved in road accidents. "I've seen many people get hurt on bikes," he said. "You make lots of friends in the industry and I guess you have to learn to live with it. It's part of the job. "All car drivers should be made to ride a bike to see what it's like." The fatality was the only death on the roads reported nationwide at the weekend.
