A new piece of equipment is set to take the skies, performing an act of life-saving proportions.
The Hawke's Bay District Health Board welcomed the new transportable Baby Incubator earlier last week, replacing the ageing one being used.
The essential new addition was purchased with the help of significant donationsfrom the Hawke's Bay Air Ambulance Trust and the Hastings Golf Club, among other smaller donors.
The incubator, which was built in America and assembled in New Zealand, is used to transport babies requiring treatment to other Health facilities or DHB's throughout NZ by the HB Air Ambulance Service.
Tony Bryan, trustee of the Hawke's Bay Air Ambulance Trust said they were glad they contribute to such an important piece of equipment.
"We set up the trust to help provide equipment necessary to transport people. We are very pleased to help."
A large part of the donation came from the Hastings Golf Club at Bridge Pa, the result of surplus funds from running the Toshiba Pro-Am Golf tournament for the past two years. As recognition of the donation, the HBDHB presented the new incubator to about half-a-dozen representatives from the DHB, Hastings Golf Club, Toshiba, and the HB Air Ambulance Trust.
