The IRD are pushing the Christmas appeal.

The IRD are pushing the Christmas appeal.

The Napier Inland Revenue Department staff had a bit of a festive season get-together late last week and did a festive thing for less fortunate families.

They put together the marvellous sum of $525 after staging a collection for the Christmas Cheer Appeal, and their generosity combined with other businesses, clubs and individuals has pushed the crucial cash fund close to the magical five figures.

Opus also came to the Christmas-giving party with a cheque for $299 while the Napier Rotary Club arrived with $250.

As well as a series of generous anonymous donations a young lady who gave her name as Isabelle called into the Napier office of Hawke's Bay Today with $31 in cash. The gift and food pile also got a lift through the folks at Bay City Gym who gathered a donation of gift goodies. The parcel-packing volunteers are gearing up for the job ahead and everything is set to be wrapped (literally) on Friday.
