Hunt for fugitive

An arrest warrant has been issued for Maihi Nesta Hanara, 17 of Dannevirke (pictured) after he absconded from police on Thursday night. Senior Sergeant Sue Leach of the Dannevirke Police, said Hanara was due to appear in court for sentencing on 12 charges including intentional damage to a police car.

"At 3am on February 3, we responded to a callout where an allegation of a serious assault was made. Hanara is on a 24 hour curfew and when we went to his curfew address he was not at home." Mrs Leach said they managed to track Hanara down to a flat in Kaitoki, east of Dannevirke but he ran when he saw police arrive.
