A fish and chips shop in Westshore, Napier was gutted by fire in the early hours of this morning.
The fire at Fish Takeaways was noticed by a passing truck driver at about 2am. Fire trucks from Hastings, Napier and Taradale attended. The lower level of the building was gutted and the upper part had heat and smoke damage.
It is believed one person was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Fire services are investigating the cause of the fire.
