The death of Dannevirke father-of-three Hamish Gore more than a week ago has rocked staff and families at First Years Preschool, manager Lisa Bond says.
"It's been a terribly sad tragedy for Tracey and the children and that whole family.
"Tracey and Hamish have been associated with First Years foreight-and-a-half years and we want to do something practical to help."
A donation box is available at the centre for money and groceries and three boxes are already overflowing with food for Tracey and her children, Mrs Bond says.
"The community has been so generous, people just want to do something to help." An account has also been set up at the BNZ bank for those who wish to make a donation to a fund for the Gore's children.
"These donations will help the Gore children through this terribly difficult time."
Money can be deposited into the account, number 02 0612 0004416 003 and cash deposits can be left at the bank as well.
Boxes for grocery donations will remain in place at First Years Preschool on Allardice St in the meantime and the public are encouraged to donate, Mrs Bond says.
