In news that is sure to warm the cockles of most CHB households, electricity account holders are set to receive a near $1000 "winter bonus" this week.

The Central Hawke's Bay Consumers' Power Trust has announced that every electricity account holder connected to the Centralines network at May 31, will receive a $905 tax-paid dividend payment in the mail.

Trust chairman Alistair Setter confirmed the nearly $1000 payment would be in addition to the annual discount received by Centralines customers, which was due later in the year.
Cheques would be mailed out this week, he said.

Setter said this would be the first dividend distribution in a number of years, and had been made possible by Centralines' excellent financial results and network performance and solid performance over recent years.

He said the trust's board had challenged the company to "go out and grow" and Centralines had "delivered".

"Centralines has paid the trust a special dividend and we as the trust have decided to pass that on in full. So we are thrilled to be able to share the success of Centralines with the consumer beneficiaries of the local power trust," he said.

In addition to maintaining a strong financial position, Setter said Centralines had continued to explore growth opportunities while delivering a reliable network.

"This has seen the company expanding the Central Hawke's Bay network — while working as far afield as Dunedin — alongside significant vegetation work, technology investment and network enhancements.

"The management and staff have worked hard and delivered really well for our consumers beneficiaries."

He said both the trust and Centralines anticipated receiving many inquiries from the community regarding the payment of the dividend cheque.

"In the first instance, we encourage consumers to visit Centralines' website for a full list of frequently asked questions and answers. Any consumers who haven't received their cheque by the end of next week are encouraged to contact our Help Desk on 06 858 7770 during business hours," said Mr Setter.

* Information on the company is publicly available from the Centralines Office and its website, www.centralines.co.nz.
