For the first week of summer, the Bay's weather is looking decidedly spring-like. Sunny spells, showers, gusty wind and fluctuating temperatures are all in store for the region this week.
MetService meteorologist Tui McInnes said the weather was looking a bit "fiddly", with a low pressure system sitting over the country, which was causing wet weather across much of New Zealand.
He said Hawke's Bay would not escape the wet weather, however the region would be seeing showers rather than consistent rain, and there was a good chance there was going to be some sunshine throughout the week.
Tomorrow will see temperatures climb to 24C in Napier, while Hastings will be slightly warmer, making it to 25C.
McInnes said today will probably be the pick of the bunch in terms of sunshine, with Hawke's Bay sheltered from the worst of the rain.
He said the gusty winds Hawke's Bay experienced over the weekend are also meant to die out today.
Tuesday is expected to be a scorcher, with temperatures climbing to 27C in Napier and 28C in Hastings. However, the warm weather will be caused by northerly winds, which are expected to be quite gusty.
The warm weather will peak on Tuesday however, with temperatures cooling off on Wednesday, with 24C expected in both Napier and Hastings.
Thursday will see temperatures drop even further, to 20C.
