Police have a quick thinking and observant member of the public to thank for helping to stop a burglary in Marewa, Napier.
Yesterday at around 2:30pm a concerned citizen rang Police saying he had noticed a suspicious man moving through the Gallipoli Avenue area.
Police immediately responded by locating and arresting the suspicious man who was already wanted for other dishonesty offending.
"He was arrested carrying an iPad which had been engraved with the details of the school it had been stolen from," said Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard.
"The fact the iPad was engraved meant we could quickly identify where it was taken from and return the item to its rightful owner.
