A screwdriver was used to threaten staff members at Frederick St Dairy in Hastings this afternoon.
Senior Sergeant Mark Clayton said at 4.40pm, two male Māori in their 20s entered Palms Store, armed with a weapon, physically removed the till and decamped from the scene.
"There were no injuries and the staff member has been offered victim support. The CIB also did a scene examination at the address."
"A silver SUV type Japanese vehicle was seen leaving the scene at haste and the enquiry is on-going," Clayton said.
This incident is the latest in a spate of robberies occuring around Hawke's Bay within the past few months.
On the 20th of May two men with a hammer stormed into the Grays Rd Convenient Store and Takeaway, one offender smashing the cabinet and the computer screen on the counter, while the other went to the cigarette cabinet.
Police were also called to a robbery at Mobil Havelock North service station in April.
A lone attendant was confronted by a man said to be brandishing a knife and forced to hand over cash.
Pricecutter superette in Napier's Maraenui shopping centre was also robbed in April, with the wanted male fleeing with cigarettes and cash after threatening a shopkeeper with a mallet.
The continued aggravated robberies at dairies in Hawke's Bay have pushed the region's tally to 39 for this year.
"If anyone saw anything or knows anything about the latest incident, police urge them to come forward," Clayton said.
"Hastings Police Station can be contacted direct, or alternatively call the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111."
